On 8th September 2024, Jonny Catto will be taking on Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Mobile Education Partnerships.
At 5,895m, Kili is the tallest mountain in Africa, and the tallest free-standing mountain on Earth.
The planned route is a 7 day excursion (5 days up and 2 down) with 3,500m of ascent from the start point to the peak.
Mobile Education Partnerships is an educational charity that provides training for teachers in Burma and on the Thai/Burmese border. Conditions in Burma have worsened significantly since the military coup in 2021. Despite the very challenging conditions, MEP continues to provide year-round, practical training for teachers in the Mon, Magway and Ayerawady regions of Burma. MEP also works with displaced groups who have fled to refugee camps and border towns, providing year-round training and support to teachers in their schools.
All costs for the trip will be covered by Jonny, and so every penny raised will go directly to supporting the fantastic work that MEP do, and all donations are hugely appreciated.
